Today is the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month which is the Mid-Autumn Festival.

It’s the festival about the moon. On this day, people eat moon cakes and pastries, families sit together and enjoy the full moon. It has been a long tradition Chinese custom.

The origin of this festival:

In ancient times, there were ten suns in the sky. Exposure and hot temperature made people’s live a misery. A hero named Houyi came along, shot down nine suns and save the world. Then the Queen Mother gave him a pill as a reward. Chang’e, Houyi’s wife, drank the pill by accident and became immortal. She had to leave the earth to the moon. That day was the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. Houyi offers fruits and foods in the yard to express his longing for Chang'e every year. People respected Houyi and followed his example.

“As the bright moon shines over the sea.

From far away you share this moment with me”

I wish you all a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and family reunion.
